PAVE Art Program
April 26, 2024
Guest artist Klay-James Enos spoke to PAVE Visual Arts and AP art classes at New Rochelle High School about his life growing up in NYC and his creative trajectory to his current Algorithmic Field project—creating an abstracted grid and using that as a parameter for his plein air paintings.
Inspired by Klay’s project, students devised a grid pattern based on their coordinates of their location for their paintings. The students created their own version of Algorithmic Field Paintings with gridded underpaintings for their en plein air day on May 29, 2024. Each class mixed their own variety of colors and assigned them a number.
The students then worked lakeside with Klay, painting the landscape over their algorithmic grids underpaintings.
Special thanks to artist educators Alexandra Rutsch Brock, Scott Seaboldt, and Moira McCaul.
